When you harvest a deer where do you gut them?
where they drop
drag them away from your stand
Take them home and gut them
When you harvest a deer where do you gut them?
I gut where they drop. I'm hunting in the woods and cornfields, so there is no reason to drag the deer anywhere before I gut them.
Where they drop, unless they drop near a known bedding or big feeding area.(apple trees, food plot)
Then I will drag them a little ways off for the coyotes... just makes sense to me to do it that way...
less paranoid deer.
To succeed where others fail, go where others fail to go.
This is only my second season and haven't actually gotten a deer yet but I don't see why I wouldn't gut it where it drops unless it's in someones yard or on a trail or something.
If I drag it will only be to a little bump or hill or sapling to help tie leg
to if I am alone.Deer don't care about gut piles!I think in Canada it's
illegal to hunt over a gut pile.
I gut them where they drop. Dead deer or gut piles don't phase other deer.
Generally where they drop though I may move it a few feet to where it is easier to gut it.
Last year the doe I got I had to lay on the ground next to her to gut her out. With the arthritus I can't bend over or kneel down to do it. I'm thinking this year of carrying a small hoist. Tying it to a tree as high as I can and hoisting it up to gut it. If it's not to far to go I just might bring it home and do it.
EEEEWWWWWW!!!!! You guys touch that stuff. OMG
I Just shoot them for the fun and leave them for those stupid dog things!
