    Coyote hunting

I wanted to know if anyone hunts coyotes? If so how do you hunt them?

I would if I had some use for them or new someone who worked with hides, I understand they are a menace to farmers but its not me to just blast one given the chance and leave it to waste. It definitley seems fun and a bit challenging.

It seems that the recent influx of coyotes the area has ruined the woodchuck hunting. This is a major setback to me as that was great rifle hunting all over New England and adjacent NY.

Yesterday I went to the private land where I have permission to hunt deer. I got some exercise and a nice walk. It was warm and beautiful. There should have been some chucks out. I saw nothing but a crow.

I will shoot coyotes of course but hunting is not the same for me.

    I have shot a few.

A beautiful red fox just ran through our back yard. I have not seen many since the coyotes came.

I hunt them w/ a Foxpro caller, and use the occasional hand call. I use decoys also, have a JIB that goes w/ the Foxpro, and a woodpecker decoy also. Have shot a few, managed to get one within 5 yds last Saturday and not get a decent shot off ( long story, basically a bad set up on my part). I have hunted deer for a while and don't get buck fever when one is coming in, but to get a coyote coming in gives me the shakes in a huge way!

Just picked up a Remington R-15 in .223 to use for this, have a few places where I have permission to hunt them. Friend of ours lost a new-born calf to coyotes last year, I have a standing invitation to go there.

My buddy Passinthru just told me he has a friend in Ledyard with a lot of them, we're gonna see if we can get a few to come in down there. He wants to film them, told him he might have to be the shotgun guy.......
