    Fairfield County Butcher

Hunting season will be on use before we know it, 48 days to go but who is counting. I often hunt in the Easton, Redding area and on those warm September hunts I thought it might come in handy to know if there is a good local butcher in the area so If you can recommend one that would be great.

In the past we just ice them with bags of ice and wrap them up in a tarp. We haven't had any problems doing it this way but it would probably be easier just to drop it off at a local butcher and pick it up on the way home after another hunt.

can't help ya in that neck of the woods, but maybe you have other options.
deer hunting in Fl: We bought a ice freezer from Mr Abu at quickie mart. Then we would throw the entire deer/hog into the cooler and let it freeze. Then partly thaw it for skinning and cutting.
Hog hunting in SC: When I go hog hunting in the South, we drive down from Ct and kill'em in any 'ol swamp. Then skin and quarter them and put the parts into large walmart coolers and drive back home in ice.

This list was put together by Brian (smokepole) last year. I have used Lee Sabo in Oxford and been very pleased.

Here is a list of Connecticut Deer Processors. If you know of other places please let me know and I will add them to the list.

    Hank,

This is excellent information and exactly what I was looking for thank you. I think that we should let this thread run for a while and see what others have to add and once it is "fleshed out" make this a sticky in the deer hunting section, or perhaps start a forum for game processing. I am sure that Andy will see this thread and comment.

    Deer processing

    Hi,

Nodine's no longer processes deer. Litchfield Locker does but be warned. There have been complaints. I go to Gaudette Farms up in Riverton. He is a bit pricey but does a great job.
