    TooManyHobbies,

Please provide lots of details on your trip. I've been thinking about a moose hunting to Newfoundland for a couple of years and will probably bite the bullet and go in '19 or '20. I've researched every outfitter on the island and my top three choices right now are Grand Lake, Arluk, and Red Indian Lake. What outfitter are you guys using?

This will be my fourth time to Kindens Quinn Lake Outfitters. I think it was Red Lake that I shot my big bull in 2010.

After four trips it sounds like you are really happy with Kindens Quinn Lake. If you don't mind me asking, what made them better than Red Indian Lake? I can't decide on an outfitter, so I'm probably going to wait and talk to a bunch of them in person at the Harrisburg Show in February.

I tagged along with a friend that made all of the reservations. He met Everett Kinden at the Springfield sportsman show. We went, had a good time and they became pretty good friends. I've been 3 times, my friend has been 6 I think.
I have no comparison to any other outfitter. I don't think Kinden is the cheapest, but they do try real hard to put us on moose. The food and company is very good. The country is awesome. It's not a "trophy" hunt by any means, but you can stumble on a good bull here and there. When I shot my second bull, the guide said there are lots of native newfies that have never shot one that size. They are mostly meat hunters though, shooting the first legal animal. They really rely on the meat to sustain them. It's only foreign hunters that are picky. The group I go with are not picky. Cows, bulls and one or two calves have been shot.

These are my two moose from that camp. The first is a 9 point (2007), the other is my 2010 bull. I got skunked in 2003.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like there are a lot of good outfitters in Newfoundland (and a few bad ones!). I tried looking at Kinden's website, but apparently it's down right now. I think I'm going to have to talk to a few outfitters at the shows before I decide on one.

I look forward to hearing about trip when you guys get back.

    Thanks again!

Life has kept me busy as well. The site popped into my head recently and I've been meaning to get back to it. Hope to keep up with it more as facebook & instagram don't have the useful/friendly/welcoming feel that this site does.
