Selling a boat on Craigslist a fools errand?

I've had an ad on Craigslist for my old duck boat without much luck (ad is posted in classifieds). I constantly read the other ads looking to compare similar ones and I started noticing the same boats, reasonable priced, have been there for months. It would appear CL is not a very good marketplace for small boats. Anyone know a better/more appropriate site?

Lower the price, it will sell. I sold a late 80s 18" lund alaskan with a johnson 40 on it all camoed out for $1800 this summer. Youre way too high

You have to put the boat at the right price at the right time. I redid a 14 Jon boat with new camo paint and everything in perfect working order at a time when others were selling not so good condition boats for a little too much. I sold it for $2200. Tough to sell any boat, even a duck boat in the summer and fall. much easier just as the weather is getting nice in spring is the best time.

    here's the boat I sold

    E-bay

Try it on eBay. As time of year is important, E - Bay will reach a lot more people. Pop's boat was a wood 42" sailboat. Sold it in 4 weeks in the spring. You can put a reserve on the price as well.

I totally agree. Besides, Craigslist is a bit risky now, too many scammers online hoping to make an easy score.

+1 Craigslist is an absolute nightmare. I ended up moving the boat but not before endless hassles and scammers.
