    40 Geese Down - 9/1 & 9/2

Hey All - Been about a year since I've been on here. How's everyone?

DU CT and I spent a lot of time scouting local birds in August. Especially the last week before the season. Picked up some patterns on morning locations, loafs, roosts. Everything leading up to the week before opening day felt great... then within one day, six spots lost birds. Just gone. Damn local birds... Anyways, we busted tail to get back on them. Knocked on lots of doors. Scouted a lot of backwater. Picked 'em up again. Hard work pays off.

Day one we dropped 26 birds between a morning set up, a loafing spot setup and a loaf spot jump. Had a roost hunt lined up but we called it off. This morning we slow paddled into position at 5:10. Legal light came and we were out with 14 geese in our yaks after about an hour. One band this morning. Local 1148.

Took two hours to process yesterday. An hour this morning. Breasts and legs. I don't like it when guys don't take legs off their bird harvests. Seems like a waste and it's disrespectful to the animal. We add the leg meat into sausage grind. Increases the total poundage significantly. Two days, three set-ups and a jump and we've got 100 lbs of meat in the freezer. Doesn't get any better than this! Not to mention, it was 37 degrees this morning!!

Damn, good shooting guys. I wanted to go out yesterday, but had nothing prepared, incl. fed stamp. Hopefully will get out at some point. Work is still too busy with bow season coming. What happened to the bird with disconnected head. lol.

Interesting band location. Thought it'd be local for sure.
