    Smells Like Logwood

Ahh, nothing like the smell of logwood trap dye on a good autumn morning. Broke out the boiling pot and started dying traps this morning. Can't believe the season is only a couple weeks away! Skinned a raccoon from a job the other say to test and see how the skins were coming in. Still pretty blue. Be another month before everything thinkens up and gets set for colder weather.

Anyone else prepping and getting ready?

I don't dye them anymore, just boil to clean, then wax. Seemed to work fine last couple seasons. The black traps do look better though. I haven't even thought about it yet.
I did toss a few skunks and a big coon last week that looked good on the outside, but I knew they were too early to skin.

Definitely! Felt good to be dirtying up my new fur shed, too. DU CT pelted out that raccoon like a pro.
