I have a 6 acre plot. I do half in clover and the other half in winter greens and turnips. They hit the clover all year and hammer the hell out of the wintergreen and turnips after the first frost and they dig the turnips up all winter long.

I plant clover on one half the other is Turnips ,the clover is easy to plant as long as your soil has a good ph.
You can get your soil tested at Uconn it cost 10 bucks if i remember right.
They will do a print out and tell you how much lime you need and fertilizer.
The Turnips i plant in late August they grow fast, the deer eat the tops after a good frost the tops get sweet.
I Seen the deer dig the turnips out of the frozen ground ...
