CONCORD, N.H. --New Hampshire's Fish and Game Commission is reaching out to sporting clubs across the state to increase support for hunting and fishing.

Fewer hunters and anglers are buying licenses that support conservation and biology initiatives, so the commission has asked sporting clubs to a Sept. 18 gathering at the Belknap County Sportsman's Association to discuss communications options.

The New Hampshire Union Leader reports at its monthly meeting Wednesday, the commission discussed how to encourage volunteerism. They heard about efforts to help repair the Barry Conservation Camp for at the Berlin Hatchery, which was closed for 2010. Youths were taught fishing, hunting and other outdoor skills there.
