I saw one out in Woodstock about 10 yrs ago. Poked it with a stick while it buried it's head in the rocks. Pretty cool animals. I've seen two roadkills since then, one in Chaplin, can't remember where the other was.

I've only ever seen one porcupine in the wild, it was in VT while on the ski lift. It was on the middle of a trail and I was waiting for someone to get too close!

I see one or two a year up in the NW CT and a lot more further north. I took this picture a couple of years ago in Goshen.

I have run into them with hunting dogs. They are a pain in the A&&.
I started carrying pliers to pull quills. They sit in a tree and eat,eat
eat.Removing bark and damaging the tree. There was a bounty on
them I think 50 cents years ago. Then the stoped because someone
thought they were the only animal a lost person could catch on
the ground.!?????
