Thanks for posting this for me Andy.This is somthing you don't see
everyday.I always have my camera in my pocket except that day.
I called my Son Matt from the woods and asked him to bring out
his camera to get the pictures fast because things don't last long
in the snow.At first I thought it was a rabbit but Matt saw small
pieces of it's tail and knew it was a flying squirrel.The owl must
have eaten it right on that spot and only left blood and fur.WILD!!!!!:icon_e_surprised:

Just curious, you can see from the pictures it was a bird of prey, how do you know it was an owl?

My old man found this on my property and first thought it was a rabbit killed by a hawk or other bird of pray I saw it and from the hair and pices of tail could tell it was definatly a flying squirrel. Just figured it was a owl because the flying squirrels are nocturnal.

Yes, that is good figuring. Owls prey major on Flyers
We used to have a feeder outside our back door and the flyers got used to eating out of it. The Barred Owls also quickly figured it out and I saw them more than once perched on my roof.
