View Full Version : Anouther great day

I'm beat but had a great day.Had deer all around me and got
a shot at a nice buck about 9;00.About 20 yards but he saw me
before I could draw the bow.I heard the arrow hit and watched
him run.He went around a small hill and I thought he never came
out. After 10 min. I climbed down and looked for my arrow. It was
sticking straight up with 5 inches missing on the feather end.I saw
good blood and figured he was just a little ways off.WRONG!! I called
Andy and gave it an hour.We had a blood trail a blind man could follow.
But no deer.We kept saying how can it still be going???.After 150+
yards and off our property I saw a deer 50 yards ahead. We watched
it wobble across a brook. It was behind a tree and bush.I said to Andy
lets back out and give it more time.An hour and a half we came back
and he was right where we saw him last.It was raining and we were
cold and wet but very glad to have him down.I changed from the
85.Gr. Stinger that with a great shot gave no blood trail to a Wasp
85 gr. hammer sst with a 1 3/8 cut.The Wasp saved my butt!

Again thanks Andy for your eyes.

Congrats again pete you earned both deer ,The tracking job on this one was a piece of cake it poured blood a blind man could follow i could not belive how far it went when i seen it cross the brook i knew it was a dead deer it had the wobbles like a drunk man.

Nice job! You got some butchering to do!

I'm guessing the entrance hole is on the left? From the blood trail you describe, some part of the heart must have been hit. Always lethal but deer sometimes can go much further on that hit rather than if you're in the center of the lungs. Glad it turned out well!

Rain up there today huh? Dry in SE CT ...

way to go there are these from the field you plowed out this year or around it

10-29-2009, 03:20 PM
They were in the area but the acre food plot is gone and the half
acre plot is almost gone.I think I planted to late and the lack of
rain after planting never let it get ahead of the deer. They hit it
every night and it never could recover.Plus I didn't put to much
fertilizer in.To costly.

well next year should be even better.sounds like you got a nice place up there.were thinking of putting a small plot of chufa out not so much for the deer but the turkeys.
