It's a big Russian rifle copied by the Chinese and Finnish.1891-1938
Rifle and carbine also a model 53.I would try a 7 or 8mm Mauser if
I had a choice. If you get old surplus ammo it might be corrosive and
if you don't clean the barrel the right way you can ruin it.I speak from
picking up Some cheep Russian 762x39 and ruining a Ruger Minni 30. The
Chinese ammo that I had from the 60's was OK.Came in a leaded ham
can 1144 ? rounds rapped in grease paper tied with string and the
primers were all painted.Would probably last 50 years.

im pretty anal about cleaning my guns after i fire them. ive seen these rifles shooting dead on at 600+ yards. seems like it would be more then enough for any american big game.

I've never seen nor handled one of these. My oldest son came over Sunday and told me he had just put a deposit down on one. Maybe I'll get to try it. He bought a 8m/m mauser last month. I haven't tried that yet.

the mauser is 3 times as much(or 6times as much if you want an actual nazi rifle). i just love russian rifles. they are perfection.

All the rifles from WW1 were big rounds. They all shot out to 600 yards
and had to shoot through a 6 in. log at I'm not sure of the distance.
We had the 30-06.Britts .303,Germans 7 +8MM and the Russians 7.62x54.
They all will take any game in north America.I don't know if there is
a lot (if any)ammo for hunting sold or if you have to reload. As with any
old mil. rifle don't think they are all tack drivers. The Russians and
Vietnamese used them for sniper rifles but thats because that is all they
had. Many old mil. rifles (that were issued)were cleaned from the bore
end and the crown is worn making some inacurate. If the price is good
for you and it's what you like go get one.
