anyone know of any public rifle ranges in ct the have anything over 150-200yds or farther, farther the better... or if any private clubs let non members shoot? i looked online for awhile but couldnt find anything, only found a few private but you need to be a member. everything else that i found was either indoor or 100yds max. blue trail would be perfect but their 200yd isnt open.

Bell City rifle club in Southington has a 200 yard. It is a membership club, but I don't know if they allow non-members to shoot.

I'm a member of Ledyard Sportsmens Club. We have a 400 yd rifle range. But you have to be a member. It's the longest one in the state. You could apply. What are you looking to shoot and at what distance? Our dues are 100.00 per year + 8 hrs work at the club, or an extra 50.00 per year.

I'v been looking for a range over 100 yards too and unless your a member of a club there is nothing it sucks. But that thats a great deal there I wish I lived a bit closer to Ledyard!

my friend and i want to shoot his bushmaster, m1a1 carbine, .270 and ,a 22-250 at something more then like 100 and im looking to buy a 300wm with a muzzle break just for fun as an xmas present i want something loud as hell to shoot and be able to shoot it at distances it was actually designed for. im pretty far from ledyard but $100-150 a year isnt bad at all. i blow through that goin to the range once a month and shooting close. thats actually the cheapest ive seen a club so far. most of the others were ridiculously priced. im might look into that for 2012

Bell City have a lot of matches that are open to the public, bench rest, high power etc. Check out www.bellcity.org for more info.

There is a club in Winchester that has a 300yd range but I don't know of any that is longer than Ledyard's 400yd range.

One note about Ledyard, you are exempt from work party time if you live more than an hour away.

There are a few. Meriden Rod and Gun is just around the corner. I hit that a couple of times a year when they have open days.
