FINALLY! after several years of horrible luck on archery deer and almost two full years of not dropping a deer period, i finally killed (and retrieved) my first archery deer!

This new 25 acres me and joe picked up in old lyme is one of the best spots i have ever hunted. we saw ten deer yesterday, and after seeing that many i desided to say the heck with shooting ducks, im going back after a deer. sat this morning, had one at 13 yards but to dark and jumped one in the landowners yard. this afternoon, i jumped yet another one right at the entrance to the woods. she didnt go far. after a botched attempt to make a stalk on her i got in my stand. just as i texted joe saying we need to stay out for at least a week to let it settle i here a doe behind me. 30 yards and she ducks my arrow! didnt run but slowly walked away. 15 min later i was ready to get down and give up. as i spent several minutes fighting with my hoist string i hear a snap, look up and a deer at exactly 20 yrds standing perfectly broadside. i let it rip. THWAP!!! she runs off behind me, lost site of her and never heard her go down. looked perfect but i was unsure. got down and found my arrow stuck in the ground covered in blood! i called the girl and joe. went back to my truck and dropped off my other stuff. started tracking while waiting for joe. not a ton of blood but consistant non the less. i was freaking out worried i wouldnt find her. she went 80-100 yards befor joe found her taking a dirt nap. as joe looked for a clear path to her i bum rushed the brush to get my hands on her. after high fives and a 100% heterosexual hug:icon_winkle: he asked me if i wanted to get the land owners tractor. "nope i wanna feel the pain" and with that the work began! absolute perfect textbook double lung shot.

the landowner is a great guy. he asked us for help moving the worlds heaviest furance and then feed us homemade pastries yesterday!

Congratulations. Don't be so worried about running the deer off, they're probably used tp people being around. By the way you need to touch up your toe nail polish.
